Green is the new blue at UNO.

Sustainable development seeks to balance the concerns of the three E’s: environment, economy and equity.  Across both academic and professional disciplines this concept has grown into an important issue. Universities are in a unique position to demonstrate sustainable practices, influencing communities, other academic institutions and generations of students to practice sustainability.

The UNO Green Initiative seeks to encourage the University of New Orleans to take on this role and work toward the creation of a more sustainable campus.  The initial goal is to foster the use of best practices in sustainability for landscape design and management, education, and transportation planning.  These three areas provide an opportunity to create a significant impact at the outset.  Best practices from around the country are being reviewed and an Action Plan created to identify key initial steps to move the campus towards more sustainable practices.

Please look around the website to find information on sustainability both at UNO and around New Orleans.
